Back in 1993 a somebody suggested all the goths go on holiday in Whitby and that maybe it would be a cool idea to organise a couple of bands to keep them entertained that weekend. A gig was organised in the Elsinor pub, a small rustic place on whitby highstreet with fishing tackle on the walls and all you would exspect from a yorkshire fishing town tourist orientated pub. Most people I know arn't sure how they got the bands in to what is a very small pub. when a few hundred goths turned up the windows were opened and they had to listen from the street. tales of leggs hanging out of windows abound. Ten Years on the adverage whitby starts at the elsinor and little angeland the street's in between on the wednesday night, continues in much the same vein through thursday, starts officialy on the friday with the opening in the morning of the goth market where people tend to buy enough gear to wear for the friday and saturday evening in the Spa pavilion which is where we now have eight or nine bands and finaly finish on the sunday night either at Sexy sunday (At the metropole) or the 80's night at the Loughton arms Where they can spend the night being even sillier than normal. Frankly the 80's night rocks and Sexy Sunday just ain't my thing.
I first made it to Whitby in November 1998 and havn't missed one since to keep things simple what photo's I have been devided in to the weekends they were taken.
